The Piccadilly by Speake Marin

Since starting his own company in Rolle on the banks of Lac Leman in 2000, Peter Speake-Marin has grown into one of the most important independent watchmakers working in the world today. Infectiously-enthusiastic and very much the Englishman, Peter is a one man show in the making of the movement.
Everything inside his pieces is alive – made and designed by human hands without the use of computers or electrical machines. In an almost indefinable way his workmanship contains a depth and life to it that many factory-made watches seem to be lacking today.
The Piccadilly, just like its name-sake in London, has kept the beauty of old tradition but adapted to modern times. The delicately hand-finished hour and minute hands and elegant enamel dial and typify its quintessentially English character. The automatic movements are based on a simple 1950s arrangement, and the setting mechanism, cannon pinion, hour wheels, bridges and rotor have been designed to reflect this. The oscillating rotor resembles the shape of Peter’s Foundation watch’s tourbillon cage and is cut out and finished with the same amount of loving detail, reinforcing the watch’s visualand technical connection to the original.

In 2007, Ritz Fine Jewellery, London approached Genta with a view to creating a small series of timepieces that combined simple, elegant lines, the best materials and the highest possible level of finish – at the heart of each a movement that would delight even the most knowledgeable and discerning of aficionados. The result is a remarkable feat of watch making skill. Drawing inspiration from no watch that had ever gone before but rather assimilating architectural, cultural and social elements from The Ritz Hotel in London, Genta has created three ranges, each comprising a date model, a chronograph model and a tourbillon model.

Available in a choice of precious metals, the entire collection amounts to just 15 watches, each of which is limited to a numbered edition of one. The dial of each watch has purposely been left blank, free from any form of branding – allowing the collector to personalise the piece (with if desired a motif designed by Genta himself). If the dial is to be personalised, the details of what is required will be carefully considered before a lead time is confirmed. Testimony to Genta’s pride in this extraordinary work, he has for the first time allowed his signature to be engraved on each watch. Jaeger-LeCoultre is proud to announce that Aston Martin Racing has won the Catalunya 1000 kilometres race, held on April 5th, in Barcelona (Spain). The 007 car, driven by Jan Charouz (CZ), Tomas Enge (CZ) and Stefan Mücke (DE) finished first after a flawless debut run. Car 009, crewed by Harold Primat (CH), Miguel Ramos (PT) and Darren Turner (GB), ran in the top three until the final 40 minutes of the race, when a spin put the crew out of contention.

In June 2009, Aston Martin will once again be taking part in the most legendary of all endurance races at the Le Mans 24 Hours with the firm intention of winning the legendary blue and orange Gulf trophy in this 50th anniversary year of the previous historical exploit. The new Master Grande Tradition line from Jaeger-LeCoultre

In 2009, the Grande Maison in the Vallée de Joux is unveiling some extraordinary timepieces embodying an original symbiosis between the technological breakthroughs of the 21st century and a tribute paid to the finest watchmaking traditions. The design and creation of such a masterpiece naturally depends on the authentic mastery of the intricacies of fine watchmaking, a mastery that Jaeger-LeCoultre has been cultivating for 176 years. The new line is distinguished by distinctive aesthetics and the joint presence on each model of two complications interpreted in a manner that is at once historical and innovative. Right from the time of their introduction in 2007, the Master Compressor Diving Lady watches signalled the end of the dilemma between performance and refinement. Art in enamel with Jaeger-LeCoultre: World exclusive personalization

In an unprecedented challenge, Jaeger-LeCoultre has made in enamel one of the most exclusive piece of art on the case of a Reverso watch, which can be worn on the owner wrist as part of a watch!! The swivel case of the reverso allowed its owner to decorate it and gives him the absolute assurance of possessing the most complete artistically decorated work one could imagine.

A private British art collector who owns an incredibly valuable Lord Leighton original oil painting called ‘Pavonia’ wanted to personalize his Jaeger-LeCoultre reverso watch. This piece of art, one of his most precious paintings, as part of his private collection, is rarely seen in public. (The last time was at the Royal Academy in celebration of Lord Leighton’s work over a decade ago.) He asked to the Manufacture if it was possible to have a duplicate of the painting recreated on the case of his favorite watch with an Enamel.

This is an incredibly challenging task with only a handful of artisans in the world being able to create such a feat. It took 120 hours for our master enamellers to complete it. In order to celebrate this truly unique item’s arrival the new owner has agreed to let exhibit both the watch and the original Painting in the George Tarratt show room in Leicester for one week in June.

Movado limited edition Museum(r)

Movado released a limited edition Museum(r) to celebrate the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater' 50th anniversary. The dial watch designed with a double-wrap sliced strap that signifies the movement and the fluidity of dance. Ailey's signature anniversary orange inspired the strap color, and the case-back of the timepiece features Ailey's 50th Anniversary logo.
